Character Headcanons

I’m was not on a train, but I am was on a plane, so here’s some headcanons:

What would happen if they bumped into a celebrity in an unusual situation?

(Inspired by the fact I was sat 1 seat over from a man who could have been our Prime Minister, last election.)

Ignan - Probably take ten minutes to realise who they are, if he recognises them at all. Would respectfully ignore their recognised status if at all possible. Worst thing is for people to be pointing and staring. He doesn’t consider himself a celebrity by any stretch of the imagination, but he would actively avoid all children and their families out of term time for the same reason. May recount the story later to friends or family, and be unable to remember the name of the person he saw.

Johann - Wouldn’t hesitate to strike up conversation if he held any respect for them. If he disagreed with them, one would hope he’d just ignore the fact they were there or treat them no differently to the rest of the population, but with a drink or if feeling particularly arrogant he might make a comment. Conversation would be well mannered otherwise, and he might even ask for an autograph if it went well. Might have to shut himself up if he’s really into them, out of excitement.

Camille - Excited to recognise someone, but would be a bit shy to approach or say hello unless with company and has built confidence from them. Would recount the story for years.

Francis - Too shy to say hello. He doesn’t think it is polite to interrupt someone just because they are recognised. Might point them out to his sons and explain who they are. Probably more interested in having a drink with his heroes from the magical research fields he reads.

Ambrose - if he wasn’t a wizard, and didn’t own a mobile, he would be trying to take a selfie with them in the background. Bashful, blushing. He’s polite but far more ambitious in saying hello than his father would be.

Tim - Like his father, rather shy to say hello. Good at recognising faces.

Monty - Would definitely try to chat them up and give them a business card if not sell them a car. Would definitely try to take a photo and befriend them, or have a drink. I think he’s met more than a few back in America and has the photos to prove it.

Nadine - Very much depend on who and how they bumped into each other. If it was in a professional capacity, she would remain ever the professional. In a personal capacity she might think it crass to fawn after someone who is well known.

Ariadne - Near stalker level of interest. Would be the sort to sneak a photo, liveblog every movement. Only as a witch she’s more likely to try and sell her story to Witch Weekly.

Cepheus - Would smile at them in the hope that they might make eye contact and he could say hello. Too polite to say hello without observing the situation first. Had a massive crush on his former dorm mate who is now a quidditch star.

Mortimer - After weighing up the possible gains of interaction, be either polite or ignore them completely. More likely the latter.

Edwin - No qualms about introducing himself. Edwin considers himself well known enough in the wizarding world to be able to do that. Has an income that allows him to visit restaurants where the Prophet may have a photographer at regularly. May have famous friends.

Elixa - Excited, exuberant, and very pleased to meet them. Would gush at how wonderful they were for doing whatever they did. Only exception would be if they were her patient, in which case she’d rein it in massively and just slip it in at the end of the consultation.

Lawrence - Pre-Azkaban days he would be a bit cocky about meeting celebrities. Nowadays he would only use their appearance as a helpful distraction.
